This was my big “non-Civil War” find of the day.
My oldest coin to date, and my oldest silver (obviously).
It is a beautiful, thick, heavy “two bits” 1/4/ cut of a Spanish 8 Reale! It was pretty new when it was cut. Lots of detail. The edging is very clear.
It gave a perfect 83-84 VDI … I thought I was digging a Seated Quarter.
Here are the pics …
And check out this edge …
This is silver coin #5 for me this year. My “youngest” so far has been an 1893-O Barber Dime. I’m actually going back in time!!

Such a great find! And dated in the 1700, I believe that will be the oldest you will find. Yes it is beautiful when cut and I can see the clear edges. I will be looking forward for your next find. Keep posting.
